Sam Goodchild’s Vendee Globe Race was a masterclass in decision making as he coaxed the absolute maximum out of an older generation IMOCA 60 that put many of the newer boats to the sword. His race ended in frustration, as sail damage on the last leg up the Atlantic saw him slowly drop down the pack, but that does not take away from an impressive race.
