The Jester Challenge is a low-budget, non-commercial solo ocean voyage for small, self-reliant boats under 30 feet. Apps was the only skipper to complete the passage from Plymouth to Newport RI, crossing the finish line aboard his UFO27 Glayva. After battling a complex weather system, gales, and a broken genoa furler, he made land after more than two months at sea.
