Craig Wood

Craig Wood became the first triple amputee to sail the Pacific solo, non-stop, unassisted. The 33-yearold former rifleman in the British Army who, aged just 18, was caught in an IED blast in Afghanistan. Craig suffered enormous injury, losing both his legs and his left hand. After treatment, Craig discovered sailing and set his sights on a transpacific crossing. Setting off on 25th March 2025 from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Craig covered 7506 nautical miles (average speed of 3.6kts) in 90 days, arriving at Hiroshima, Japan, on 24th June. In the process he sailed into the record books.
